Traditional Odds
There are many different ways of betting on a football match.
This guide will outline each type of bet and explain how it works.
Understanding every soccer bet option will help make your wagering more profitable.
Match Odds
The Match Odds or Win/ Draw/ Win or 1X2 refers to the possible
final result of football and other sports which have three possible
betting options for the final result in thenormal duration of the match
including injury time (if not otherwise stated).
The question posed in this bet is “what is going to be the outcome of this match?”
A win for team A, a draw or a win for team B? There are three possible selections
to choose from for this market which are symbolized as 1X2.
Match Odds (1X2) bets have 3 selections:
1) Home team wins
X) Draw between the two teams
2) Away team wins
Example:
If a match is played between teams A and B and your selection
is a win for the Home team then you would win the bet if the winner
was team A and lose if the match ended in either a draw or an away win.
Double Chance
The Double Chance bet allows players to cover two of the three possible
1X2 outcomes in a match in one bet. The Double Chance odds will always
be lower than the individual 1X2 odds because the chance to predict two
of three possible final results is greater than predicting the one final
outcome of the match.
Selections: Double Chance bets have 3 selections:
1X - The home team will win or the match will end in a draw
X2 - The away team will win or the match will end in a draw
12 - Either the home or the away team will win the match
Example:
In a match between the teams A and B if you bet on the win or the draw
of the Home team then you should win if A was either the winner or if
the match ended in a draw and lose if team B came away with the victory.
Over/Under 2.5
The Over/Under 2.5 bet refers to how many goals will be scored in total, in a 90 minute
(including injury time) football match by both teams. The total goals of a match can be
calculated by adding the goals of one team with the goals of the other.
The question in this bet is “Will the number of goals in totalwhich will be scored by
both teams at the end of the 90 minute match be more or less than 2.5? ”. We have to
mention that there is no draw (push/void) possibility in this bet. That means you will
either win or lose your stake at the end of 90 minutes.
Selections: Over/Under 2.5 bets have 2 selections:
Over 2.5 - For the Over 2.5 bet the total goals of the match must be 3 or more (for example 2-1 or 3-1) in order to win.
Under 2.5 - For the Under 2.5 bet the total goals of the match must be 2 or less (for example 1-1 or 0-1) in order to win.
Example:
A match that ends 3-2 has a total of 5 goals, a match that ends 0-0 has 0 total goals.
Euro Handicaps
The 1X2 or European Handicap bet is settled on the basis
that one of the teams is given a goal start, giving it
an advantage or disadvantage (depending if the goal is added or subtracted).
The 1X2 Handicap bet has 3 selections, the same as for Win/Draw/Win.
Example 1
(Addition): The bookmaker sets the handicap bet for the match Team A to +1 (Team A (+1) vs. Team B)
In the case of a draw or if Team A wins: The result for the 1X2 Handicap is “1”
because Team A had an addition of 1 goal so Team A win even with a draw.
In the case of a Team B win with a 1 goal difference (0-1, 1-2 etc…):
The result for the 1X2 Handicap is “X” because the Team A had an
addition of 1 goal so the handicap result is a draw.
In the case of a Team B win with 2 or more goals difference (0-2,1-3 etc…):
The result for the 1X2 Handicap is “2” because the Team B win despite the +1 handicap addition to Team A.
Example 2
Subtraction): The bookmaker sets the handicap bet for the match Team A to -1 (Team A (-1) vs. Team B)
In the case of a draw or a Team B win: The result for the 1X2 Handicap is “2”
because Team A had a subtraction handicap of 1 goal, so Team B wins.
In the case of a Team A win with a 1 goal difference (1-0, 2-1 etc…):
The result for the 1X2 Handicap is “X” because the
Team A had a subtraction handicap of 1 so the result is a draw.
In the case of a Team A win with 2 or more goals difference (2-0, 3-1 etc…):
The result for the 1X2 Handicap is “1” because Team A wins despite the -1 subtraction.
